I Made You a Present!

September 18, 2010

I’m feeling excited, and kind of shy. I made you a present, and I want to leave it on your doorstep, ring the bell and run away.  I’ll hide around the corner and giggle, heart pounding, as you open the door and find. . .

Well.

I’ve talked about plank before.  And if you’ve taken my class, you know that plank is one simple yet challenging way to build willPower & grace.

Big Sur plank

So, I made something to help us with our plank practice.

It began as something I wanted for myself:  someone to coach me through my plank, and give me cues so I didn’t have to look down at my watch to know how much time had gone by.  And, since I tell my students to practice plank at home, I thought maybe I could somehow make it easier for them, too.

From that inspiration, I am now pleased to present a free downloadable plank tutorial!  (Click the arrow below to listen from your computer.)

It’s like having a coach while you plank!

I guide you through your set-up, and a 2-minute (or less) plank.

Then drop it into your workout playlist.  Use it as part of your warm up, or cool down.

Or, listen to it when you practice plank at home.  Or in your office.  Or at school.  Or in the park.  Or any place you can grab a free minute or two.

That’s the beauty of plank.  You can do it anywhere.  It only takes a minute.

And now, if you want, you can take me along with you.

Plank Tips!

  • Engage your abs to support your low back.
  • Alignment:  shoulders over hands, stacking bones and joints.
  • You should never feel crunching or compression in your low back.
  • You have permission to take a rest when you need it.  Then, COME BACK.

Music Credits

  • Song:  Alternative Ending Montage
  • Artist:  John Swihart
  • Album:  Napoleon Dynamite (Soundtrack)
  • Click here to purchase on iTunes.
